Men's PFB Ingrown hair/folliculitis

Carolyn Skincare MedSpa

Welcome to our MedSpa – where our expert skincare and aesthetics address common skincare issues like inflamed hair follicles caused by shaving or plucking hairs in areas like the arm pits, pubic area, back and legs. These are often referred to as razor bumps. Cutting and plucking can force a shortened hair back into its follicle. Ingrown hairs curve inward instead of pushing up through your skin’s surface. Shaving bumps are a chronic inflammatory disorder created by irritation to the skin that results in an ingrown hair, regardless of how the hair was removed. A rash of bumps that may look like folliculitis can often be ingrown hairs rather than infected follicles. Often ingrown hairs tend to affect people with curly hair who shave too close on the face and neck. Men who get waxes may also develop annoying razor bumps. The truth is, without routine skincare, it is easy for dead skin to clog hair follicles. Left unattended, ingrown hairs can produce a raised bump that can sometimes become infected. Our treatments for PFB ingrown hairs and folliculitis help to free the trapped hair, so the cyst fades away.

Aerolase Neo Elite® Ingrown Hair Removal (Pseudofolliculitis Barbae)

PFB (Pseudofolliculitis Barbae, i.e. ingrown hairs, razor bumps or beard bumps) is an irritating condition that is commonly caused by shaving. It often appears in people of darker skin types, including tanned skin. Our laser selectively targets the melanin in the underlying hair and follicle, as well as hyperpigmentation surrounding the lesion. Due to the unique 650-microsecond pulse duration being 50 to 500 times shorter than pulses durations typically used for hair removal by other laser technologies, the energy passes through the skin quickly and does not overheat the epidermal melanin to effectively treat ingrown hairs and PFB (Pseudofolliculitis Barbae).
